Sakana
The quiet strength of the mountain ranges
The quiet strength of the mountain ranges
Nestled between the Aralar, Urbasa and Andía mountain ranges lies a corridor of meadows and forests of oak and beech trees that seems to breathe history. Here, the landscape is both observed and felt: the Burunda-Arakil river winds through the region and the rocks of Mount Beriain, or San Donato, silently watch over the valley. Sakana is a region to be discovered on foot and by looking closely, where the ancient Roman road from Bordeaux to Astorga and the Camino de Santiago Primitivo intertwine with nature, allowing the identity of the mountains and the memory of its villages to speak for themselves.
Sakana is best discovered step by step: amongst green meadows, ancient stones and streets brimming with stories that feel alive.
