In the Erro Valley, the memory of time clings to the stone and dissolves in the dampness of the forests that cover the landscape. In this valley, the atmosphere is sensed in the silent presence of the dolmens and in the constant flow of an ancient path that winds through the landscape without imposing itself. It is a land of serene passage, where the echo of ancient shepherds and the murmur of water intertwine naturally, allowing the mountains and daily life to express themselves in the same measured rhythm.

What to see in the Erro Valley?

Here, every element of the landscape forms part of a shared memory.

  • Megalithic trail: The valley is home to one of the largest concentrations of dolmens and cromlechs in Navarre, particularly at the sites of Sorogain, Aurizberri-Espinal and Ardaitz, where structures such as Dondoro and Artzilo bear witness to human presence dating back 30,000 years.
  • Disc-shaped stelae: Folk funerary art is evident in the cemeteries of Orondritz and Aurizberri-Espinal, where these stone pieces mark the graves of each household in an open-air museum that blends memory and landscape.
  • Stone and water landmarks: The landscape is marked by medieval bridges such as those at Orondritz, Urniza, Larraingoa and Ardaitz, as well as the Ardaitz fountain, a recently restored 13th-century structure.
  • Architecture of faith: Churches such as those in Lintzoain (13th century) and , or the pilgrims’ cross in Espinal, safeguard the spirituality of a region that has been a crossroads on the Way of St James since the Middle Ages.
  • Sorogain: A setting of emerald-green meadows and beech forests at the foot of Mount Adi (1,457 m), where the source of the River Erro captures the freshness of high-mountain streams.
