From Bees to Ethno-Beekeeping, Wax, and Honey

In a typical 16th-century house in the Ultzama Valley, bees are presented as nature, a craft, and a cultural expression. This guided tour explores the history of beekeeping and the relationship between humans and bees from its origins to the present day, in an engaging format tailored to each group.

The tour takes in antique beehives, traditional waxworks, and tools used in Navarre's ancestral beekeeping practices, demonstrating how honey and wax have been integral to daily life and various cultural uses. The experience begins with a presentation at the house's entrance and continues through the classroom dedicated to bees, flowers, and honey. Next, the process of extracting and packaging Navarre's raw honeys is explained in the workshop. The guided tour concludes with a honey tasting and the opportunity to purchase honey and other local products.
