Yesa Reservoir on the Urdina Trail

The Mirror of the Pyrenees

The Yesa reservoir stretches out like a watery horizon which, since the mid-20th century, has shaped the contemporary identity of the region. Linked to the River Aragón and the traces of human activity along its banks, this landscape is today a place where past and present engage in a silent dialogue, creating a liquid surface that reflects both the landscape and memory.

On its northern shore, the water is not merely a boundary, but a habitable space. The floating platform and its connecting walkway were conceived as a way of approaching the reservoir with respect and integration, providing convenient and safe access that adapts naturally to fluctuations in the water level. Its modular structure, built with resistant and durable materials, avoids permanently altering the riverbank, maintaining a balance between human intervention and the natural environment.

The walkway, 25 metres long, traces a gentle curve between dry land and the water’s surface, guiding visitors towards a space designed for lingering, swimming and engaging with the landscape. On the water, the sensation changes: time slows down, sounds become clearer and the horizon expands.

The anchoring system, precise and discreet, allows the structure to follow the reservoir’s movements without imposing its presence. Everything in this place reflects a philosophy of care: recyclable materials, reversible solutions and a clear commitment to not disturbing the ecosystem’s balance.

Thus, the platform becomes a threshold, a place to pause, contemplate and inhabit the water from within, letting the landscape and silence complete the experience.
