Path along the River Aragón

The River Aragón flows like a thread that weaves together time and landscape, leaving traces of history on each bank and shaping the identity of the villages it caresses. Urdina is the dance of the water in its middle reaches: 30.72 kilometres where the riverbed and the memory of its banks come together on a journey of tranquil discovery. Here, the ‘ ’ nature, ‘ ’ and history make their presence felt, between the Yesa reservoir and the Kaparreta nature reserve, accompanying the walker or cyclist on a route that breathes.

On this trail, the noble stone of the medieval villages and the silent murmur of the riverside groves reveal an ancient persistence, a mineral and organic narrative that unfolds unhurriedly.

What to see on the Urdina Trail?

The Urdina Trail invites you to explore the River Aragón as if it were a thread of liquid memory, linking landscapes, history and life along its length. From Yesa to the Kaparreta Nature Reserve, each section offers an encounter with nature and heritage that can be experienced by walking at a leisurely pace or cycling slowly, letting the river’s rhythm set the pace. Along the way, the areas and features of the landscape can be grouped into key experiences:

Connection with the water

The River Aragón takes centre stage. In Yesa, the first stretches of the river, the fishing grounds and the floating platform allow you to get close to the water, feel it, listen to its murmur and understand its role in shaping the landscape and local life.

Viewpoints and landscapes

In Javier, Sangüesa/Zangoza and Gallipienzo, the viewpoints and elevated footpaths offer sweeping views of valleys, riverbanks and fields. These are places to pause, observe the vegetation and the landscape, and let the river landscape tell its story. From these natural vantage points, the region is perceived in all its vastness and harmony, revealing the relationship between water, villages and historical memory.

Heritage and tradition

Passing through medieval villages, historic bridges and cultural landmarks allows you to feel how the river has shaped the lives of the communities. Every stone, every bridge and every ancient path reflects a time when water was a route, a boundary and a source of sustenance, creating a narrative that accompanies the visitor at every turn.

Forests, wildlife and natural spaces

The riverside groves and river gardens showcase the biodiversity that accompanies the river: birds, wildlife and native vegetation reveal themselves as you stroll along at a leisurely pace. These are spaces where silence, shade and natural life invite you to pause, learn and contemplate the ecological richness of the River Aragón.

Sensory and sustainable experiences

Beyond mere observation, Urdina offers experiences integrated with the environment: riverside walks, nature activities, stargazing and responsible active tourism. Every point along the itinerary is designed to ensure the experience is mindful, unhurried and respectful, connecting visitors with the region and its unique identity.

Exploring Urdina means letting yourself be guided by the river: its current, its landscape and its history create a path where nature, culture and tradition intertwine, offering a leisurely journey of discovery that invites you to experience every corner of Aragón.
