Canyons and gorges

Lands of vertigo and silence

In the canyons and gorges of Navarre, the rock plunges to depths of up to three hundred metres and the water leaves its patient mark on the stone. Silence clings to the vertical walls, broken only by the flight of birds of prey that find refuge in the crevices. This is a landscape of heights and observation, where old railway lines and the rivers Irati and Salazar coexist in harmony, revealing the power of the terrain and the continuity of natural life.

Why visit the canyons and gorges of Navarre?

Exploring the canyons and gorges of Navarre offers an insight into the geological and natural richness of a landscape shaped over centuries. The rock formations are clearly exposed , revealing the earth’s history in every layer and harbouring a biodiversity adapted to this vertical environment.

Furthermore, these gorges combine nature with human intervention: tunnels carved into the rock, ancient bridges and paths that follow the course of the river. All this in a peaceful setting, ideal for spotting birds of prey and enjoying a landscape where the dominant sounds are those of water and wind.
