Larra-Belagua and Abodi
Escucha activa
At the eastern edge of the Navarrese Pyrenees, in the Roncal Valley, lies the natural area of Larra-Belagua, one of the great gateways to the highest mountains of Euskal Herria. Here, the landscape rises among limestone massifs, high mountain pastures, and deep valleys, in a setting dominated by the Larra karst and peaks towering over 2,000 metres.
This territory forms part of one of the most ecologically valuable natural reserves in Navarre, where the mountains remain almost entirely untouched, and where the rhythm of the seasons shapes the life of the landscape.
The Larra-Belagua Nordic Ski Centre serves as the hub for much of the valley’s activity. In winter, the area becomes one of the main cross-country skiing destinations in the Navarrese Pyrenees, with marked circuits in different sectors, adapted to different levels and conditions, always in perfect harmony with the natural surroundings.
During the rest of the year, the same territory opens up to hiking, cycling, and exploring the karst landscape, offering a high mountain experience defined by wide open views and the constant presence of the great summits.
In the neighbouring valley, the Sierra de Abodi extends this mountain system between Irati and Roncal. A succession of gentle hills and ridges forms a natural divide, offering sweeping views over the Navarrese Pyrenees. In winter, it also welcomes cross-country skiing, while in summer it becomes a place of pastures and open trails.
Larra-Belagua and Abodi form a unified high mountain realm, where geology, landscape, and human activity come together in a balance characteristic of the Pyrenees.
A territory where the mountains are not only traversed.
They are experienced in their true scale.
