Here, where the wind sweeps across the water’s surface and the mountains are reflected in silence, the landscape shifts in character. The Yesa Reservoir stretches its shores between the Sierra de Leyre and the foothills of the Pyrenees, creating a sense of vastness rarely found in Navarre.

Beneath its waters lie ancient stories and vanished villages, whilst the River Aragón continues to feed this vast blue expanse known as the ‘Sea of the Pyrenees’. All around, limestone cliffs, ravines and Mediterranean vegetation coexist with water sports and the tranquillity of those who come to contemplate the landscape at their own pace.

Why visit the Yesa Reservoir?

The surroundings of Yesa allow you to combine nature, sport and landscape appreciation in a single trip. Its size and the usual strength of the wind make the reservoir one of the most popular places in Navarre for practising water sports such as sailing, windsurfing or other water activities.

Beyond sailing, its shores reveal a landscape of contrasts where the water meets gorges, forests and paths leading into the Pre-Pyrenees. Nearby are sites such as the Foz de Lumbier or the River Irati, where the currents flow through vertical cliffs, offering a glimpse of another side of Navarre’s river landscape.
