Sports and Adventure
Navarre’s nature in motion
With its mountains, forests and gorges, Navarre boasts a wide variety of landscapes that make sport and adventure a way of discovering the region. Its rivers, mountain ranges and valleys offer everything from old railway lines converted into greenways to high-mountain areas where effort and nature move at the same pace.
Outdoor activities are part of the region’s identity. Trails, reservoirs, gorges and historic paths create an environment perfect for cycle touring, hiking, water sports or mountain adventures. All this coexists with a deep respect for the landscape and for the traditions that still keep the bond between people and the natural environment alive.
What makes Navarre stand out in terms of sport and adventure?
Navarre stands out for the variety of landscapes and activities available throughout the region. The network of Greenways, such as Plazaola or Bidasoa, has reclaimed old railway lines that now allow you to explore forests, tunnels and small villages on foot or by bike.
The Foz of Lumbier, the inland reservoirs and the Pyrenean rivers expand the possibilities for active tourism with activities such as canoeing, rafting and river routes. Added to this are mountain areas such as Aralar, Urbasa-Andía and the Pyrenean valleys, where hiking, climbing and mountain biking routes coexist with landscapes of great natural value.
In the south, the Bardenas Reales offer a completely different environment, characterised by eroded formations, open tracks and arid horizons that have becomeone of the most unique settings for cycling and adventure trails.
